Contacts
Link Famunio users from other families – for chats and Moments, without guests in your family.
Under Contacts you link Famunio users from other families – for shared chats and Moments. Nobody becomes a guest in your family. That is different from Friends (children’s school contacts).
Good to know
- Contacts are Famunio-to-Famunio – not the children’s address book under Friends.
- Link by exact username (no live search). Unknown → invitation link to share.
- When sending and accepting, the same question: “Share with family members?” (default: No).
- While the reply is pending, only you see “Reply pending” – inviting to chats/Moments only works after acceptance.
- Personal notes, phone, address and birthday on a contact are only for you – the contact doesn’t see them.
- All family members can create contacts; optionally parents can be notified when a child links someone.
Adding a contact
With + New you enter the username. On a match you send the request and choose whether the link is only for you or visible to the family.
If the person isn’t on Famunio yet, you share an invitation link.
Sharing with the family
When sending and accepting, each side answers the same question: “Share with family members?” (Yes or No). That yields four cases:
- Both No – only you two see each other and can invite each other.
- You Yes, other side No – your whole family sees that person; they only see you.
- You No, other side Yes – you see their whole family; they only see you.
- Both Yes – both families see each other.
New members of a shared family appear automatically in contacts while sharing stays active.
After linking
Active contacts can be messaged in Chats and invited to Moments. In the detail view you see name, username and family – plus your private notes.
Remove: always a single person; the whole family when several members of that family are visible (because they chose “Yes” to sharing).
Contacts vs Friends
- Contacts – Famunio users from other families; after acceptance, chats and Moments are possible.
- Friends – school/everyday contacts of a child; no Famunio chat, only an address book in your family.
Contacts: Free to link and text-chat; media via the host family (Pro + cloud). Friends: Free limited, Pro unlimited.
